Hello all, I would like to briefly co-opt the thread for an announcement. I am sad to say that the next volume (Part 5 Volume 9) will be posted over 10 parts instead of 8. It pains me for this to happen at such a high-octane part of the series, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

The reasoning is not so much as important as the consequences, but quite simply P5V9 is one of the longest volumes in quite a while and would have been brutal at 8 parts. (It has like an entire part's worth of extra content, which would have made each part substantially longer than usual.) Some other long-term coincidences lined up as well to make it so that doing that extra work over this specific time period would have been pretty rough; the silver lining here is that, and this isn't the lip service, the extra time actually will lead to higher quality assurance. The crunching that would have had to be done on 8 parts for this volume, especially on the editing, would not have been pretty, and that is one big reason why despite the poor timing we went for 10 parts.

Anyway, sorry for the inconvenience and I hope you continue to enjoy reading regardless. As usual there is no break scheduled before the next volume, so no need to have any concerns about that, unless something unexpected happens in the short term interim in which case I apologize to the esteemed J-novel backenders who will suffer the consequences of my glib statement.

(The bright side is that, in the past, doing 10 parts carried with it the ominous possibility of 10 parts becoming the new standard, which would have added over a year to how long it takes to finish, but we're so close to the end now that it will hardly add any time at all either way).

@Quof What?! It’s not because you’re starting work on a concurrent translation of the next side stories book? Or fanbook? ;p

@Ingraman Sadly not... My part of the unfortunate coincidences is much more self-centered in nature. I'm going to be away from home for a few months and have to translate while staying in hotels and stuff. But that's all I'll say on that matter here. I'm already pushing my luck with Rahul-sama... :V

As long as I have a new part to read each week, I'll hardly notice. And all props and thanks to Quof for doing such an amazing job. I'd rather they take the time to do it right, and a longer volume isn't a sadness at all!
