this golf course talking point is weird, even looking at the issue as an environmentalist myself.
there are 2m acres golf courses in the US
the US is 2.43b acres in size.
Golf courses are 0.008% of US landmass.
Well beyond a rounding error, but for some reason this is some people's #1 issue.
Part of the reason people freak out is when somebody throws random stats out there:
GOLF COURSES USE 1 MILLION GALLONS OF WATER EVERY DAY. OMG!!!
What is neglected is the fact that in the USA just over 400 Billion gallons of water are used each day across all uses. Golf courses use a very tiny percentage in comparison. 0.0000025 id I did my math right.
it also doesn't factor in how these irrelevant attacks alienate people who might consider joining their cause.
there are apparently over 25 million people in the US that play golf.
If, for no reason, you insult them and their hobby, you've lost a ton of potential allies.
Take this example I saw here a few days back:

A guy posts a picture of his motorcycle and some miserable sonofabitch comes in screaming at him:
yea, great job, guy..
