The most interesting and absurd ad I ever got on youtube was for a device for inspecting the coils on a huge grid transformer.
If you want to do anything beyond using linux as a web browser, then nothing is simple. Windows and mac also have web browsers, but in addition to that they can also do a lot of other things easily.
Have you tried first resizing the windows partition inside windows? That's what I did and my dual boot has stayed intact
