Nice. It doesn't seem to make any difference in the URL scheme what type of fediverse resource is being referenced. From what I understand, some of those are interchangeable, but some are not. How will the browser know whether to open a Mastodon, Lemmy or Kbin client?

@masimatutu The draft doesn't say. I imagine that if you signed up for a Lemmy or Masto instance, you would be invited to install a "fedi" scheme handler that knows your instance.
But if you have to install an extension, how does this differ from current extension that already do this? What could the url scheme do that using http urls couldn't?
