Politicians have traditionally hidden behind three things: the flag the Bible and children.

No Child Left Behind. No Child Left Behind. oh really well it wasn't long ago you were talking about giving kids a head start. Head Start, left behind -- someone's losing ground here.

But there's a reason. There's a reason. There's a reason for this, there's as a reason education sucks and it's the same reason that it will never ever ever be fixed. It's never gonna get any better. Don't look for it, be happy with what you got.

Because the owners of this country don't want that. I'm talking about the real owners now. The real owners. The big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions.

Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't.

You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They've long since bought and paid for the Senate, the Congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets, and they own all the big media companies so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear.

They got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying, lobbying to get what they want. Well we know what they want, they want more for themselves and less for everybody else.

But I'll tell you what they don't want. They don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They're not interested in that.
That doesn't help them, that's against their interests. That's right.

They don't want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table to figure out how badly they're getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard thirty fucking years ago. They don't want that.

You know what they want? They want obedient workers.

Obedient workers.

People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork, and just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduce benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it and now they're coming for your Social Security money, they want your fucking retirement money, they want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street.

And you know something? They'll get it. They'll get it all from you sooner or later because they own this fucking place.

It's a big club and you ain't in it.

You and I are not in the big club. By the way it's the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe all day long, beating you over the head in their media telling you what to believe what to think and what to buy. The table is tilted folks, the game is rigged, and nobody seems to notice and nobody seems to care.

Good honest hard-working people, white-collar, blue-collar, doesn't matter what color shirt you have on, good honest hard-working people continue -- these are people of modest means -- continue to elect these rich cocksuckers who don't give a fuck about them.

They don't give a fuck about you. They don't give a fuck about you. They don't care about you at all, at all, at all... you know? And nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care. That's what the owners count on, the fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red white and blue dick that's being jammed up their assholes everyday.

Because the owners of this country know the truth. It's called the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.

This clip just gets more true every year that goes by.

Oh, Carlin. We miss you.

[–] fsxylo@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 year ago

The thing is... For the same reason Rickey gervais can go to the Oscars and call everyone a pedophile, Carlin was part of this system.

The wealthy figured out that if sometimes the system says what people agree with, that they feel satiated and less likely to rebel.

It's why a Disney movie can be anti corporate and why Carlin had a job. They turned revolution into bread and circuses.

The only thing I dislike about Carlin is his stance on elections. Voting does matter a lot, last us elections have shown that.

Voting has to be the most important small thing you can do.

I'm speculating a little here but when he says voting doesn't matter I don't think he means your vote doesn't matter, but that whoever you vote for they are all the same type of person. There aren't politicians out there who actually want to affect positive change, on any side. Every. Single. One. Has a personal agenda, even if it's just a career stepping stone. A functioning government is the last thing on a politicians mind.

Yeah I get that, and I get where he's coming from, yet I think he might have given many young voters the idea that their vote doesn't matter.

I don't think that was his goal, and I do think that would he survived to see the trump presidency, that he would've changed his tune.

And buying stock in a failing funkopop store won’t change that. You’ll be broke forever if you let yourself be financially conned by internet idiocy.

Carlin would laugh at you dupes.

why is it so inconceivable to you that GameStop could possibly be undergoing a turnaround that would yield positive results for GME investors who believe in it?

[–] ImFresh3x@sh.itjust.works -3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

You don’t invest because something you hope to happen isn’t “inconceivable.”

Odds are higher that you’ll lose all your money. Simple math.

99% of you already have lost. Just like your gme wallets. The stock is headed to:

worthless.

You people are all 3.

sometimes people look at an image and see completely different pictures. e.g. is the dress white and gold or black and blue?

GME investors see an opportunity. If you don't see what GME investors see, I don't fault you for it.

Hey there jersan. Just wanted to let you know that I happened to scroll by and see this comment chain. I noticed that you have treated our friend ImFresh3x with respect and humility. Also it seems that you display a genuine curiosity and openness to engaging with viewpoints that might be different from your own. Nice to know you’re hanging out in this neighborhood. Seeya around!
