I have been contacted by Conservatives exactly 3 times. Each time, I tell them to go fuck themselves. Haven't heard from them in years.

“I am not a fascist, a bigot, or an authoritarian. I do not want Canada to become the 51st state. I do not want to destroy the last public broadcaster in Canada. As such, Conservatives are the last party I would ever vote for.”

My OG reason for hating conservatism is that it's also very anti science. Remeber Harper and his bullshit?

Liberals are not always right and absolutely fuck up.

But Conservatives are YET to be right.... On anything... Ever.....

Forward the message to 7726 (SPAM).

Works with all carriers and it’s free.

[–] CanadianCarl@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How do you forward, also does it not need to be a 10 digit number? I am not sms/mms savvy. I grew up with emails. I feel old.

Here’s a link to Rogers instructions. It’s the same for all carriers but I don’t personally know how to do it on android so this link has instructions for both iOS and android.

Here’s another link from the Government of Canada site to report SPAM other than SMS.

Here’s a link to the national do not call list (for whatever that’s worth)

You're just putting yourself on a contact list.

The best solution is to block and report spam.

I end up on lists if I reply. "I'm more likely to shoot him than vote for him."

Wait, do I send STOP to stop the texts, or to stop the liberals?

I'm getting them in the States. I have a Tampa, Florida area code but live in Seattle. Whatever chaos-death-engine these parties use cares nothing for us.

[–] Frederic@beehaw.org 4 points 2 days ago

We do not have them in Québec, mostly because CON is a lost cause here, and anyway they would write SMS in english, it's an automatic red flag here to receive SMS in english.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 4 points 2 days ago

Jesus Christ seriously? I live in Alberta and I don’t get them anymore. I tell them off incredibly rudely every time and they’ve stopped for the last few elections.

[–] Akuchimoya@startrek.website 5 points 2 days ago

To be fair, I've gotten texts from/for both Liberals and Conservatives.

[–] thirtyfold8625@thebrainbin.org 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

How do you know this is a con?

[–] itslilith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Because it's from the conservatives

[–] thirtyfold8625@thebrainbin.org 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Ah, I didn't realize that "Con" meant "conservative"! I thought "Con" meant "scam".

[–] itslilith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 2 days ago

(it means both)

[–] wolframhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Por que no los dos?

[–] LordOfLocksley@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I assume because it's coming from an American number?

I'm not 100% sure though

[–] LordOfLocksley@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ahhh, OK, thanks. I saw the +1 and assumed that was the American dialing code, like how UK is +44
