When you, your mom, and your grandma had children at 15.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 39 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (5 children)

I'm fifty. My wife is 49, her friends and my life long friends are around the same age and they definitely include a few grandmas. In 2023 fifty does not look like fifty did when I was a teen. The amount of smoking hot women in their fifties that pass for later thirties and early forties is incredibly high.

EDIT: Case in point, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May. Why Aunt May ever looked like an octogenarian is beyond me.

smoking hot women in their fifties

Coincidentally, the decline of smoking probably had something to do with this.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I never thought of it, but you're probably right. Most everyone I know has quit smoking by around 2003.

And lead in the air. That dropped off significantly.

[–] sock@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

now we gotta get folks to realize alcohol is shit and poison like nic

at least curb the superiority complex people seem to have over drinking large amounts of poison to feel the same as a couple bong rips with 10x the internal damage

Why Aunt May ever looked like an octogenarian is beyond me.

The protagonist was a 27 year old actor playing a schoolkid so I have to assume that everyone in the Raimi universe ages about 75% faster than we do

[–] Sabin10@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago (2 children)

The actress who played Mrs Kintner in Jaws was only 45 when they filmed. She looks mid 60s by today's standards.

[–] TonyTonyChopper@mander.xyz 2 points 1 year ago

those were a rough 45

[–] JDPoZ@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Fucking Richard “I’m bald and greying” Dreyfus’s was only like 35 in Jaws.

He aged 20 years between American Graffiti in 1973 and Jaws in 1975.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah as a 29 year old I was flirting with a woman I thought was only a bit older than me, then after a bit of making out we were chatting and learned her daughter and I are the same age…

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

And then they had threesome.

That's what you wanted to hear, right?

[–] Flaimbot@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

and it's only going to get better

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I ain't complaining. Google Photos gave me an album from 2008 and my wife looks exactly the same (hair dye is magic). Sadly, I look like I'm pushing seventy and dating a woman half my age. Nevermind... I'm ok with that.

[–] ladicius@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Know a woman who was grandmother by 28.

Yep, her daughter had the first child at 14, too. Apple, tree, you know the drill.

[–] Leate_Wonceslace@lemmy.dbzer0.com 20 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I'm gonna hang out with my friends.

Use protection!

I'm 14!

I'm 28.

At that rate she could be a great great great grandmother 5 years after her retirement and would definitely make it to great great great great grandmother...

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 30 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Weirdly enough anime is closest to real life. They’ve been putting chemicals in the water that are turning the frigging grandmas hot. …or I’m getting old. I’m probably just getting old

[–] norgur@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oooh! So it's chemicals in the water! Can I buy supplements from you to fix this totally real issue?

[–] MaxHardwood@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

something something gay frogs..

[–] son_named_bort@lemmy.world 27 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Grandma in real life: dead

[–] Diprount_Tomato@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Two world wars and it was those stairs

[–] Slwh47696@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

For my grandma just one world war, but it was those fucking stairs

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yep. COVID.

[–] balderdash9@lemmy.zip 22 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Honestly, its rare that you see ugly or old anime characters. Especially if they're girls/women

[–] Fades@lemmy.world 19 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nah, the old wise sage always finds a way to make an appearance in most anime

One Piece enters the chat

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Uhh, ugly and old characters come up pretty often. Though, this might depend on what genres you watch.

Grandmas in Soviet Russia: They keep your bike from being stolen.

[–] Gabu@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why do Soviet grandmas look exactly like the Pythons' impression of a grandma?

Probably because English grannies looked quite similar.

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 16 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Top: 85yo

Middle: 85yo

Bottom: 35yo

[–] Triple_B@lemmy.zip 22 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I know you're making a joke, but for the uniformed:

  1. watch Jojo

  2. Lisa Lisa (bottom actual grandma) is in her 50s, but training in hamon decreases the effects of aging.

[–] dalekcaan@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Man, I forgot Jojo used to be about hamon. I gotta rewatch pt 2

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah the whole "stand" thing was just yet another attack on the sanity and coherence of that series. The entire thing is an exercise in suspension of disbelief and faith despite constantly escalating deus ex machina. That being said, chefs kiss.

Niiiice! 😁👌

Muriel is the most robust 85 year old I've ever witnessed.

[–] Gabu@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Because when you want the best representative of an old woman, the one you should chose is the one that literally doesn't age...

[–] dipshit@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (3 children)

Anime is adding the letters “ILF” to every character.

edit: this is fine.

[–] IDew@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago
