I watched Oliver! (1968) the night before last, because my wife hadn't seen it. It holds up.

The Artifice Girl.

Movie from 2023 that seems to have slipped under the radar.

It's about a man who develops an AI to target online predators played out through 3 short 30 minute acts.

I don't know where they found the lead child actress but she blew me away. Movie absolutely floored me with how good it was.

I watched Minari (2020) which was pretty good.

Also Under Suspicion (2000) and Panic in Year Zero (1962) which were both terrible.

I watched Revealer. It's a cosmic horror/religious horror movie about a stripper and a protester being stuck in a peep show booth together at the end of the world

Smile. It was surprisingly good in my opinion. And scary.

:)

Watched As Good As it Gets with Jack Nicholson. Man that guy is good at playing old crotchety OCD racist-misogynist.

I was on a business trip, so I had some extra time for a change.

Rewatched "Heat" (1997). I thought I hadn't seen it, but I must have a long time ago, as I remembered the ending. Still a great movie, though. Remembering the ending halfway through didn't ruin the enjoyment. 8/10

I also saw "Predestination" (2014? The one with Ethan Hawke...) after a coworker recommend it. A good movie, but I've seen enough brain fuck movies to predict a lot of the plot twists. Still pretty good, though. 8/10.

And I finally got around to seeing Top Gun: Maverick. I wasn't expecting much beyond trying to recapture 80's cool-guy-story, but I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. F14/10.

Nice set. By the way, I just appointed you as a mod on this new account

Cheers!
I was going to sort it out myself, using my old account, but then I... didn't. Because then I'd have to relog, and I'm lazy.

Just finished watching Joker: Folie Γ  Deux.

Admittedly it was something different, but it didn't really grab me like the first one. Being a musical and a promotion video for Lady Gaga did raise my cynicism level somewhat. Not terrible, had its moments, but a missed opportunity.

I suppose the joke's on me...

Lion king 2 and lion king 1 1/2

My take: Lion King 2 has some rushed parts and other parts are too long. Overall, ok but forgettable addition to the series.

Lion King 1 1/2, starts a little rough for me, but once Timon leaves home the movie takes off and it's a good time. Recommend a watch if you have the first movie burned into memory.
