I still really hate the “+” thing they have to do for Apple Arcade because the store doesn’t allow two apps with the same name and you can sell a game and also have it be a part of Arcade… just so weird.

Does the plus just mean nothing?

[–] MrMamiya@feddit.de 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Most games released with a plus have some new features or modes. In app purchases are not allowed for arcade games. I got it because the bundle with iCloud storage and Apple Music is a better deal for my fam, and though I don’t game a lot on my phone, it’s nice to know I won’t encounter scam micro transactions when I’m trying to fucking relax.

Yeah, I wouldn't pay for the gaming because I don't game on my phone a lot, but included in the bundle it's not a bad library. There's a decent variety for all ages and not wading through the normal mobile cesspool is nice.

I think for some cases the app already in the App Store has ads and other monetisation (e.g. IAP). In these cases the app is modified to remove these and allow you to get the benefits that were behind a paywall in-game

Yeah, whereas if it’s a paid upfront app like Stardew, literally nothing is changed.

Weird that there is no Mac or AppleTV version.

probably to avoid cannibalising sales on the steam/gog side

The version update talks about cloud saves. Can you sync between iPad and iPhone?

I bought this game a while ago for 5 bucks in the App Store. For this game, that is an amazing deal!

Why did it take so long? Stardew Valley has been on Play Pass for years now. Seems weird.

It’s been on the regular App Store as a paid app for ages as well. This is for subscribers of Apple Arcade, who now get it as part of their subscription.

Ya, Play Pass is like Apple arcade. It has also been on the play store for years now.

Just seems weird it took so long to come to Apple arcade, when it was on both the play store and play pass for a long time.

Maybe because Google was willing to pay more to have it temporarily exclusive on their service.

Oh I’m dumb and just skipped over the word Pass in your comment. No idea why it took so long. It could have been a deal with Google or maybe Apple just didn’t offer them enough money in their eyes? Only the execs for whoever develops SV know really.
