Summary

The judge in Donald Trump’s federal election interference case has paused proceedings, allowing special counsel Jack Smith until December 2 to determine how to proceed, likely the first step in ending the prosecution.

Following Trump’s election victory, the DOJ, which traditionally avoids prosecuting sitting presidents, is considering dropping this and a separate classified documents case.

Meanwhile, Trump faces ongoing state-level charges in New York and Georgia, though these cases may be delayed during his presidency.

Civil cases against Trump, including ones brought by New York AG Letitia James and E. Jean Carroll, will continue.

It's the Roman Republic all over again. A generation after Julius Caesar did the same, Rome was governed by an emperor.

Why the fuck should the result of the election matter in a criminal trial?

The fact that it does shows how broken the system is.

I'd get back to the judge today, saying we're ready to procede as planned. His employment status is unrelated to the case.

If only it were that simple.

[–] Steve@communick.news 9 points 1 month ago

Technically, legally, it is that simple.
All it takes is some courage.

This was the true election interference all along. What a goddamned joke. When they say the wheels of justice turn slowly, they never said the wheels were taken off and the rusted out frame of the Camaro IROC was sitting on cinder blocks. Fuck all of this shit.

No hope here, but Biden needs to get rid of Garland and put in an AG that might take one last go with some teeth. Won't happen because they are diluting themselves to believe a status quo will still prevail. The experiment failed.

Garland will go down in history as an unimaginable coward. Enjoy your legacy, you luke warm piece of shit. I hope future generations have enough appreciation for history to piss on your fucking grave.
