Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

But the internet seems to suggest it's an AI that first debuted in Amazon's mobile app. Maybe it's been released onto the main website or maybe just the main .com or something. (I'm in .co.uk land, and try not to use Amazon unless I absolutely have to.)
From the article I skimmed, there is - or was back in March - no way to save or export conversations had with it, which seems like a red flag to me.
Do you have any Amazon add-ons (extensions) installed in Firefox? Did you, or someone who uses your computer, install any software recently?
If it is a Firefox add-on causing the issue and you have more than one that could be the culprit, start by disabling all of them. If that fixes the issue, then it is just a matter of enabling each add-on (one at a time) to discover which one is causing the issue. When you figure out which one it is, uninstall it.
I blocked it with uBlock Origin, using the element picker thing. Seems to be working well enough so far.
I did try that but I couldn't get rid of the entire box.
I've never encountered this. Is it only on amazon.com or what?
It first showed up on amazon.com for me yesterday. I found an article that mentioned it popping up on there from like a month ago, so they might be doing a slow roll-out or something.
It's basically just an AI chat window that pops up on all of the product pages. I thought it was pretty obnoxious.
Aha, maybe you can block it with ublock origin or something. I don't look at amazon pages much, but occasionally do, and haven't noticed the bot so far. It may already be in the ublock origin block list.
I haven't seen it. Can you explain where you see it? I find the Amazon Container Addon pretty helpful, and you may also look into site-specific permissions, such as blocking microphone, camera, and location sharing on certain sites. If it is a certain element that show up, you may be able to block it using a custom setting in your ad blocker.
