The nearly 300-page report is a summary of the investigation conducted by the House Oversight, Judiciary and Ways and Means committees over the past year and a half, nearly all of which has already been made public.

It argues that Biden enriched himself through his family’s business ventures and concealed his mishandling of classified information in office, the subject of the investigation conducted by special counsel Robert Hur, who declined to press charges this year.

In addition, the committees say that the Justice Department mishandled its investigation into his son Hunter Biden’s tax problems and that the White House has withheld key documents and witnesses from the impeachment investigation.

...

The investigators put the total at $27 million, according to the bank records they received. But the investigators failed to turn up evidence that Biden himself received money from those companies or participated in the foreign business deals beyond the occasions when Hunter Biden called him on speakerphone to exchange pleasantries while in the company of foreign business associates or when he saw them at his son’s birthday dinner.

Someone remind me... didn't Joe Biden drop out of the race? Wouldn't that mean that this transparent political hit job was a colossal waste of time on the part of the Republicans?

Hmm. That sounds familiar. I could swear it was a different family.

By that same logic, Trump has recieved $2 billion. And Jared worked in the administration, unlike Hunter. 🤔🤔🤔

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 16 points 1 month ago

No, no, you see, it's only nepotism when liberals do it. When Trump does it, it's just sparkling corruption.

[–] lost_faith@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 month ago

Didn't Ivanka get a bunch of patents in China? And a few more directly after trump passed some or other law

[–] Boddhisatva@lemmy.world 43 points 1 month ago

That's the Republican method of operation. Accuse your opponent of doing what you are doing. When you point out that it's their guy doing it, they just claim you are the one lying. Their base is so deeply programmed they believe it.

But released no evidence because it is jim jordan after all, a know traitor.

Is his seat never opposed during elections? He doesn't do anything but yell at things.

[–] miseducator@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Check out his district. It's gerrymandered to all hell.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago (1 children)

One of Indiana's most progressive towns, Bloomington, was gerrymandered into a separate district from the rest of the county based on very specific town borders despite the fact that the county as a whole is also very progressive and almost always votes Democratic.

Obviously in order to dilute the vote.

Yep, Bloomington is part of the rest of that pink district. Weird how that county sways Republican, isn't it?

[–] Carrolade@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

So, while gerrymandering is a significant problem that we should be aware of, I believe in this case that Indiana House District 61 is Bloomington, and that lower one is Indiana House District 65, and just happens to be the same color on this map.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 4 points 1 month ago

That's insane

[–] AshMan85@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

Better yet why has he not been held in contempt of congress for refusing to comply with congressional supena for his involvement with January 6th.

[–] RedWeasel@lemmy.world 41 points 1 month ago

For republicans, being a democrat is an impeachable offense. On the other hand if you are a republican, it is perfectly fine to send a murderous mob after other republicans, steal, defraud...

  • speed run impeaching Biden
  • Do the same for Harris
  • Trump can point to her impeachment

^ GOP plan, prolly

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 24 points 1 month ago (1 children)

its a no lose situation for them. They water down what impeachment means by abusing it and can then say its all just politics because see how theyre people get impeached for being completely exonerated on an investigation but they lied while an unrelated question around infidelity was asked which is totally the same as trying to force a foreign leader to do a hit job on who you think your future political oppenent will be by withholding funds congress appropriated for them.

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

Because they are shit heel toddlers.

enriched himself through his family’s business ventures and concealed his mishandling of classified information in office

Excuse me!? Who is this in reference to??

Someone remind me… didn’t Joe Biden drop out of the race? Wouldn’t that mean that this transparent political hit job was a colossal waste of time on the part of the Republicans?

If someone is guilty of a crime, they should be held accountable. I don't know if that requires congress to be involved or the FBI or what but if Biden did what they say he did (for which they've found no evidence) he should 100% be impeached and prosecuted. I don't care how old you are or what your job is or how long ago you were president. The rules apply to everyone. Not just the people you don't like. However, it would seem the Supreme Court has already determined this case is baloney.

If the Republicans want to waste time and money, they should be held accountable by journalists and the people who vote them into office should be made aware of their misdeeds. Sadly, most republican voters don't really care about reality or corruption in their own party as much as vengeance. The GOP has zero political agenda other than hating and oppressing others.

[–] Shanedino@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago (3 children)

So they just want to make harris president sooner?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

That would almost be less pitiful than what they did, which was spend years and who knows how much taxpayer money working on a way to discredit Biden for the 2024 election, only for him to drop out just before they were ready to release the whole thing. So much wasted effort.

[–] beefbot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

idk but it feels like they just wanna make any distracting noise possible & this play will do that

[–] charade_you_are@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago

Even mentioning this makes them look even more pathetic than usual so I'd say it's the wrong move

[–] pubquiz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

"Do that" ? Might do that if the dear leader can keep from shitting all over it.

So, no.

[–] MattTheProgrammer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Came here to basically comment the same haha.

[–] citrusface@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

American tax dollars hard at work.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't even want to know how much this farce cost us as taxpayers.

[–] Volkditty@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Look on the bright side: if they hadn't wasted the money on this, they would have just wasted it on something else. It was never gonna be used to provide any benefit to the average American.

[–] Boddhisatva@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Wouldn’t that mean that this transparent political hit job was a colossal waste of time on the part of the Republicans?

Not really. Their whole goal is to make sure they can say that Biden is impeached at least as many times as Trump even though they know that they'll never get a conviction in the senate. The whole investigation is not in the interest of justice or good governing. It's pure politics. When you point out that it's all just for show, they'll turn around and say that the Trump impeachments were the ones that were all for show. And their base, the only one's they care about, will believe it.

Here's the kicker. The reason they want to be able to say that is because they are trying to 100% equate Harris with Biden. Watch the first few seconds here (youtube) where Vance says, "It's hard to believe just how bad the Kamala Harris administration has been..." There hasn't been a Kamala Harris administration. It's been the Biden administration, obviously, and Sofa King knows it. This is not a mistake on his part. This is the new play, everything Biden has done, they will try to lay at Harris' feet including Biden's impeachment.

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 5 points 1 month ago

Womp womp too bad your hit job is not for the person your running against.

[–] Mediocre_Bard@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

These guys have no policy to run on, so they the best that they can do is to run on smearing someone.
