For all the amazing work and effort that is being poured into the fediverse in the past several weeks, and in particular what we users can see with the Voyager app - this deserves to be said with great gratitude!

❀️ Voyager is such a polished app ❀️

Just small details like how the app takes you one step back for each time you press the "Posts" button, from comment to post, from post to feed, to top of feed, and finally, to communities.

Much elegant, very wow 🐢

Voyager seriously seems to be the most polished app right now.

[–] hogart@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah it really is. Zero issues atm. Other apps have one or two great features that makes you peak their way but lack the overall polish.

Any features you'd like Voyager to have?

[–] hogart@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I really liked an app that incorporated swipe actions over the the bottom bar to reach certain functions.

Stand alone APK to be independent of Playstore.

It would be nice to also have it on F-Droid.

I miss the option to not hide read posts when viewing communities, but only in the aggregated feed. Also showing usernames in compact view in the feed would be nice. I'd like to be able to recognize spammers quickly so I can block them.

I would love to see an option to open articles in browser reader view. I always have to manually switch to reader each time I open an external article.

A floating button to jump to the next top level comment, with the ability to press and hold said button to go back up to the previous top level comment.

[–] aeharding@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yes this is being tracked. It has been pushed due to more important things but will be coming.

Haptic feedback, at least in the local version.

Edit: it’s been added since I last checked ☺️

Is it possible to be able to press to highlight/select on any text on screen? To do that now I need to reply to a comment, then select from that box and do my copy, then cancel my reply.

[–] aeharding@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There's a "select text" option in the ellipse menu!

[–] Gork@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Ohh I didn't even see that. Thanks!

Swipe left-to-right on posts page to get to Communities list.

It is the best, most-seamless PWA I’ve ever used. Wow.

I think I can say that if the Voyager app didn't exist, I probably would have given up on Lemmy in the early days. Lemmy really started to work for me when I installed Voyager.

[–] OtakuAltair@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I get what you mean but we're still very much in the early days of Lemmy and the Fediverse right now lol

Voyager is quickly ceasing to be my Methadone for my lost Apollo/Reddit; it is becoming my heroine all over.

MOAR!

THANK YOU(!) to my wonderful dealers who cook my fix and slowly improve it each and every day!

Love to all of them!

It truly is a very well-polished app. I'm currently hoping between apps rapidly as I try out their different features, but in terms of UI/UX Voyager is definitely one of my favorites.

[–] jet@hackertalks.com 8 points 1 year ago

It's really great. Thanks for the hard work!

[–] aeharding@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

Thank you!! πŸ’™

I have tried them all, Thunder, Connect, Jerboa, Liftoff, Summit and while they are all at the good stage, Voyager just wins form me with the UI design. It's so clean and tight. In addition it's a web app which is awesome. Well done!

this is the first I'm hearing about voyager, where can I get it? the only app that comes up on the app store is for some crypto thing

[–] Eva@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago

The app is only on TestFlight I believe! There’s a post about it here https://lemmy.world/post/2250485

Join the TestFlight or go to https://getvoyager.app and follow the directions.

[–] Twofacetony@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

It’s a web app, not an Apple Store app, but you can make it β€œlike an app”

The URL below explains it better than my poor mincing of descriptive words!

https://vger.app/settings/install

[–] Teal@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

Voyager is both a PWA and also currently available as a test flight app.

It won’t be in the App Store until testing is done but my guess is it will be soon. The current TestFlight version is being considered a release candidate by the developer.

Others have left links for both so give either a try and enjoy!

Is this for lemmy ?

[–] 1984@lemmy.today 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Well I used it to see that many posts from Lemmy.world doesn't even federate.

Compare this (pick top 6 hours)

https://vger.app/posts/lemmy.world/local#galleryopen

With what you see on other instances.

Maybe a bug or maybe caused by stability problems.

[–] Squeezer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The new update seems to have totally shut me out, I get - β€˜failed to load user profile’ and nothing on my feeds. Anyone else having issues?

[–] Myrbolg@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Did you attempt to log out and log in again? Maybe clear cache ich you are on Android?

[–] Squeezer@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Thanks, I’m back in now!
