Not op, but I've been playing the series (just finished the sixth game, Cold Steel), and I'd suggest not starting from a later point in the series, as every game references the previous ones in some way. Although even if they didn't, I'd still suggest starting from Sky, then playing Zero and Azure, as they are really good (and imo much better games than CS).

Started Horizon Zero Dawn. I usually don't like open world games, but this one has an interesting setting and the gameplay seems fun, so I'm giving it a try.

Finally finished Trails of Cold Steel which was meh. It felt needlessly padded (it could have been shortened to like 30 hours instead of 60 IMO) and there were too many uninteresting characters (I actually can't think of an interesting one). Hopefully the following games are better, as now the setting should be more interesting.

I have, lol.

But there's still gonna be Switch games I already own and don't wanna rebuy or exclusives I wanna play.

That's true. Altho I ended up getting a switch lite because even tho it's smaller, it's lighter and the soft buttons are much more comfortable.

That's a shame if it's true. I found the original uncomfortable and painful to hold, I was hoping for something more like the Steam Deck.

Recently played through I and II and they were great. Kinda wanna see the bump combat in more games: it was really satisfying.

Been rotating between a few games:

Slowly playing through Trails of Cold Steel, which is finally starting to pick up after chapter 4 (the characters are still pretty dull and I'm not a huge fan of the orbment changes).

Played a bit of Tales of Vesperia which I'm enjoying more than expected, but got distracted and mostly played Dragon's Dogma which is really fun but a bit confusing on where I'm supposed to go (and when).

I also got Triangle Strategy, Horizon Zero Dawn, Ys Memories of Celceta and Ys Oath in Felghana which were all on sale, but haven't started any yet.

I don't hate them, and actually think they improve dungeon crawlers like Etrian Odyssey.

But for other games I think they slow down the pacing too much, especially when you want to get back to an older area, as you are going to fight lower level enemies and there's usually an unavoidable scene transition which takes time.

Really? Why's that? Did 2 lose something or it's more of a personal preference/vibes thing?

Yea, the fall sale is actually why I was considering DD2.

Looking at reviews, it seems like a common criticism of the second game is that it's mostly a repeat of the first with a few additions, but also without fixing any of its issues.

To people who have played both: is it worth playing the second one? I already have the first, as it was included in a bundle, but never played it.

  • Thanks everyone for answering! I'll be playing DD first then.

After enjoying Ys I and II, I played Origin, which was hugely disappointing. It just felt so unsatisfying to play, and the single dungeon was boring af. I pushed through hoping at least the story would get interesting, but after almost finishing it again with the second character it never did, so I gave up and dropped it. I'm not sure if I want to try the other games in the series, seeing as this is considered one of, if not the, best.

Literally just started playing Tales of Vesperia (~30 minutes). First impressions are that it looks really nice, the combat feels better than the other Tales I tried (Arise and Berseria) and I'm linking the setting and character designs.

Crimzon Clover's really fun. It's similar to Dodonpachi. Another good one is Ikaruga. It has an interesting mechanic we're you switch colors to absorb bullets.

Avoid Sine Mora and other "euroshmups", they just suck to play.

Hi, I'm looking for a thin phone cover for my Nord 2. Most of the ones I've tried are bulky and sometimes change the shape of the phone in uncomfortable ways, but I still wanna use a cover to protect the phone, especially from falls.

Does anyone have tips on what I should try?

Thanks
