I still haven't started playing Horizon Zero Dawn. Sequels are being released way faster than I can clear my backlog and play the originals.

HZD has been out for like 7 years

Dragon Quest IX released in 2010 is still in my backlog.

Well you can't blame it on the Devs then, I also have an enormous backlog but only have myself and humble bundle to blame

[–] cloudless@feddit.uk 4 points 7 months ago

No I am not blaming on the devs. I am blaming on myself having limited lifetime especially limited free time.

Got Zero Dawn the other day in the Steam sale. I really should give it a go on the weekend.

honestly it's up there among my favourite games

You should move it up on the priority list, its one of my favorite games of all time, and I was super put off due to my perception of it being "childish" due to the robot dinosaurs.

Turns out its incredible sci-fi.

Definitely picking this up. Someone who has please let me know what your experience playing it on PC is like. Wondering how well it runs.

Most of the reviews and the comments I've read other places say that the port is good. No major performance issues are being talked about.

[–] cory_lowry@lemmy.world 2 points 7 months ago (1 children)

That's great, cause the first one has some fairly bad performance issues in my experience.

Really? Played it through on the Deck, and a SteamOS self build I've got for couch playing and it worked great. No slowdowns at all

Hopefully better than the first one, which had some serious performance issues. Aside from that it was a decent port though. I'll wait for a good deal on it though. Wanted to play the first one on the hardest difficulty anyway at some point.

Yep. I tried playing the first one on steam deck and had some pretty awful frame drops on the lowest settings. Really hope they focused on optimization more this go round.

Got platinum for it. Wish I had money to buy a decent gaming PC so I could play it again in even better quality. Story is not as good as HZD but it's so beautiful, loved every second of it!

I heartily recommend this game, buy it now or on sale but definitely try it out.
