It's Saturday again! I keep missing Friday...

Still playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed.

XC 3 is one of my favourite games, and it's so great to be back in that world. One thing I didn't realise was the timeline where the game takes place.

About 20 hours in, and story-vise I think I should be getting to the end, but it can still end up taking 10-20 hours.

Started Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS. I played the remake Tomb Raider on PS3, but since I skipped on PS4, didn't get to play the sequels, now finally gotten around to playing it.

I am really surprised at how well the game plays. The game doesn't feel aged at all, general game play, combat, puzzles, everything. Of course, it's possible that it's just me, cause I mostly play older games, but I have also played some latest games in between, like Spider-man 2, so it's not like I don't know how newer games are.

I am not very far into it, as spending most of my time with XC3: Future Redeemed, but I am loving everything I have played so far.

So, what about all you? What have you been playing?

I am almost done with Echoes of Wisdom and thought the map was the perfect size for the game. I always felt like Breath of the Wild’s map was too large for what was offered. Tears of the Kingdom kind of made that worse by doubling the map underneath and having it mostly be empty.

This is from a few years ago, but I just stumbled upon it. It was a very fascinating read on the development of Pokémon and their different types. The changes that happen during a game’s development are really interesting.

So I just got home from work, and I was playing Nintendo Switch at work. Well, the battery died.

So I get get home, plop that bad boy in the dock. Turn on the TV, turn on my controller, and.....TV has no signal, controller isn't connecting.

I walk over, and press and hold the power button while it's in the dock, and it's not doing anything. I pull it out of the dock, and press the power button. It's showing me a blank screen with a red battery symbol to indicate no battery.

Yeah, that's fine. The dock has external power. Use that. Except, no. It's not. I need to wait for it to charge for a few minutes. At least enough to turn it on. THEN I can run off of wall power.

I understand the BATTERY is dead. I get that. But why can't you just draw from AC if it's in the dock? I don't even care if it's charging right now. I just want to play. It can charge later when I go to sleep, and it's just in the dock all night.

I want the switch 2 to just be drop and play, even with a dead battery. Bad enough I need to worry about if my controller is charged!

Can we bring back the WiiU controller battery life? I'm pretty sure that thing is still charged since the 1970s. Which doesn't even make sense, but it still somehow goes to show how long that controllers battery lasted.

Wait, where did Friday go? I think this week had one less day! Well, better later than never.

Finished Astral Chain, played couple of post-game arena-combat missions, but ignored the rest.

Overall, a very good game, the story wasn't anything out of the world (except literally speaking), but it wasn't anything bad either. The gameplay and combat was really good.

Also, I want a Lappy plushie now!

Finished Nier Replicant completely. Well, first two endings. Didn't want to replay just to watch 3-4 different scenes, so watched those on the YouTube.

Combat and gameplay is good, but quests are very grindy and fetch quest heavy, I think I already mentioned this, people would ask 10 of something that's a random drop in a specific dungeon, and going through whole dungeon would drop it maybe once or twice, so you have to go through it five times. And that's one person's request.

Story was really interesting though. And not counting the quests system, enjoyed the game. Looking forward to playing Automata and see where they take it from here.

Started (well resumed from World 2) and finished Donkey Kong Country 2. The game started easy enough but got pretty tough in further stages. If it weren't for save states I would have never been able to finish it. Probably died about a 1000 times. Near the end I started saving after every small section.

Though it wasn't a constant difficulty, even in last world, there were couple of stages that felt easy enough. The last boss was pretty difficult though, specially in the last phase, dunno how many times I died on that.

Now playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed. Just started it, so will write more about it next week.

So, what about all you? What have you been playing?

I've been meaning to cancel online for two years. Went on the web site tonight and spent 30 minutes trying to turn this off. The cancel link takes me to a page with two sections, one where I can apparently buy vouchers (whatever they are) and the other just says I have a subscription. No option to turn off auto renewal. Talk about dark patterns. Any suggestions?

Edit: OK, whew. Took me two hours but I finally got it. Had to do it on the eShop on the Switch, which I didn't want to do because I knew I'd have to put in my new WiFi password and then run updates before it'd let me do anything.

This was not a good experience. Very hostile.

Thanks to all who tried to help. ✌️

Nintendo's Switch 2 reveal felt like a lightning bolt delivered straight from Zeus himself for everyone except, well, most people. In fact, since the console – which fans have spent years clamoring for – looks so much like its predecessor, some analysts predict it'll have trouble appealing to a general audience.

"I can imagine 'normies' being a bit confused," gaming industry consultant Serkan Toto tells GamesRadar+. "The device is bigger than the original Switch, but not comically large. The form factor, button layout, and overall design are very similar to Switch 1, so I can imagine issues arising when potential mainstream buyers look at the new device."

Our sister community, !playstation@lemmy.world has announced that they are banning all links to Twitter / X, including the alternate front-ends like Nitter, Xitter, etc, and after discussing with @CosmicSploogeDrizzle@lemmy.world and @picandocodigo@lemmy.world, we have decided to follow them.

So, from now on: All links to Twitter, X, or any alternative version such as Nitter, Xitter, etc. are no longer allowed. The only exception will be screenshots in the event that the news cannot be sourced elsewhere.

Please report posts containing these links so that mods can remove them.

As for the reason, I am going to steal words of @CosmicSploogeDrizzle@lemmy.world :

The long-term reason is that the platform as a whole is becoming more and more (arguably already is) a safe haven for fascism, racism, xenophobia, anti-lgbtqia+, etc.

The acute reason is Elon giving Nazi salutes at the inauguration being the final straw. This community will not support Nazism or fascism in any way whatsoever.

Previously we showed a preference for links to Nitter or Xitter but it wasn’t a rule. Now we reject the platform in all of its incarnations and in any way that provides traffic and or reliance upon it.

Thank you for your support.
