I recently sort of came into realizing I'm a demisexual, and was wanting to see about if there are any books about people's experiences as demisexual or asexual or similar.

I read The Cybernetic Tea Cafe and I really enjoyed it. It was a good, short story with a sci-fi background

This poses an interesting question to me. I've read so many books and consumed so much media that makes the great assumption that all people can be seduced, or have casual sex with someone they find attractive. It never really occurred to me (given I've only really recently identified that demi is what I am) that this is the perceived norm.

Most of my friends really enjoyed casual sex and flings, and given all the fiction I've consumed reiterated their experience, I just assumed I was the oddity.

Thanks for the realisation OP!

That they are usually attractive to the object of their desire is that part I always found more "fictional".

No problem. I've also only recently realized I'm demi and you're definitely right about the perceived norm. Its nice to be able to help another person realize this!

Greg Egan's Distress has some of that.
